This description from an old Silvestri catalog beautifully sums up the Charming Tails collection by Dean Griff: Strolling down a country road on a warm sunny spring day you catch sight of something out of the corner of your eye. Looking under the huge Oak Tree just beyond the fence, you spot the soft brown fur of a tiny mouse disappearing under a large brown leaf. As you watch, he pokes his nose out from under the leaf, twitches his whiskers and gives you a charmed wink before scrambling over the large roots covering the ground. When you continue on your walk you wonder 'Could a mouse actually have just winked at me or was it only my imagination?'. You may have stumbled upon more than you thought. Perhaps you have been given a rare glimpse of the small folks who inhabit the magical village of Squashville. If so, you are truly blessed. For very few people indeed have seen, much less been winked at, by a citizen of one of the smallest and loveliest places on earth. Squashville brims with the magic and joy that brought it to life. Only through the ingenuity and great courage of Mackenzie Mouse and a stardust miracle did Squashville come to be. Mackenzie and his friend Maxine are not exactly sure how it happened, but one night the acorns of the old oak were dusted by a shooting star and they grew into beautiful pumpkin homes. As they crept through the moonlight towards this new town, they met many soon to be friends like Binkey and Bunnie Bunny, Stewart Skunk, and Reginald Raccoon who had also seen the shooting star. Together, with delight and amazement they explored this wondrous place, finding fun, excitement and friendship at every turn. Through artist Dean Griff, the charming and endearing inhabitants of Squashville are now frolicking in more special places than ever before. ...Just don't be surprised if a mouse riding the back of a butterfly happens to wink at you as you pass by. |
